Admin & configuration
- Archived Document: a Document soft-deleted when hard delete is disabled — its
Is Archivedflag is set totrueso the Document is hidden from end users but retained in the backend (Configure the Admin Panel). - Auto-Share Level: the per-Linkable-Object setting that grants the linked record’s Owner automatic Read, Edit, or No access to Documents linked to that record (Configure the Admin Panel).
- Change Data Capture (CDC): the Salesforce platform feature Folio uses to push real-time updates to Live Fields and trigger ownership-based auto-sharing when linked records change (Enable Real-Time Updates).
- Folio Admin page: the dedicated Lightning app page where administrators configure Folio (Configure the Admin Panel).
- Invocable Apex action: a Folio Apex action callable from Salesforce Flow to automate Document workflows — create, clone, share, tag, link, transfer, and more (Automate with Invocable Apex).
- Linkable Object: a Salesforce object enabled in the Admin Panel so users can link Documents to it, use it for Record Links and Live Fields, and create Related Lists from it (Configure the Admin Panel — Choose Linkable Objects).
Documents & home
- Document: a Folio Docs rich-text artifact, typically long-lived, with Live Fields, sharing, and templates where enabled.
- Folio Docs home page: the Lightning page for searching Documents across the org, labeled Folio Docs in the Salesforce UI (Browse the Folio Docs home page).
Editor & formatting
- Expanded view: a full-screen overlay of a Document that hides the surrounding Salesforce page for distraction-free reading and editing (Document Editor — Open / exit expanded view).
- Folio Document Editor: the block-style editor Lightning Web Component placed on Salesforce record pages and used inside the Folio Docs home page, with a header, left sidebar, document body, outline pane, utility bar, and footer (Using the Folio Document Editor).
- Outline pane: the auto-generated, jump-navigable table of contents built from a Document’s headings (Using the Folio Document Editor).
- Slash command: typing
/in the editor opens a menu of block and formatting commands; navigate with ↑/↓ and select with Enter (Formatting Documents). - Tag: a free-form label applied to a Document via the Related & Tags drawer or popout; new Tags are created inline as you type (Document Editor — Related Records & Tags).
- Utility bar: right-hand editor panel for info, sharing, Tags, export, focus, and more (Using the Folio Document Editor).
- Viewing mode: an editor mode that locks the Document body from edits while still allowing Write-Back–enabled Live Fields and Related List columns to be edited where the user has Salesforce field access (Using the Folio Document Editor).
- Wide View: a toggle that expands the Document body to fill the available window width instead of the standard paper-like width (Document Editor — Wide View).
Mentions & linked data
- Live Field: a live chip in a Document showing a Salesforce field value; may support write-back when configured (Insert Mentions with @).
- Mention: umbrella term for chips inserted from the @ menu — Record Links, Live Fields, and Related Lists (Insert Mentions with @).
- Record Link: a clickable chip inside a Document that links to a Salesforce record (created via @; see Insert Mentions with @).
- Related List: a live, filterable list of child records from a linked Salesforce object embedded inline in a Document (Insert Mentions with @).
- Write-Back: the ability to edit a Live Field’s value inline and save it to the underlying Salesforce field, subject to standard Salesforce object-, record-, and field-level access (@ menu — Write-back).
Permissions
- Folio Administrator: the permission set that grants access to the Folio Admin page and Folio package settings. Admins need this in addition to Folio Docs User (Assign Permissions).
- Folio Docs User: the licensed permission set required for every user of Folio Docs. It grants access to the Folio Docs editor and all core features (Assign Permissions).
Templates
- Source Object: the Salesforce object type a Template is configured for; determines which records are valid as the source when the Template is instantiated (Manage Templates).
- Source Record: the specific Salesforce record passed in when a Template is instantiated; supplies the values for the Template’s Mentions (Manage Templates).
- Template: admin-defined starter Document with placeholders (Manage Templates).
