Assign Permissions
Folio uses permission sets to grant access to its features. After installation, assign the right combination of permission sets to each user based on the role they will play with Folio.
The two Folio permission sets
Folio ships with two permission sets:
- Folio Docs User: the licensed permission set that gives users access to the Folio Docs editor and everything that comes with it: read and write Documents, create Documents from templates, share Documents, link Documents to records, apply Record Links, Live Fields, and Related Lists inside Documents, and more. Every user of Folio Docs needs this.
- Folio Administrator: grants administrators access to the Admin Panel, the ability to control Folio package settings, and read access to error logs on the Folio Log object. Admins need this in addition to Folio Docs User.
License-controlled assignment
The number of users you may assign to the Folio Docs User permission set is controlled by the number of seats purchased on the Salesforce AppExchange. You can only assign as many users to Folio Docs User as the number of Folio Docs seats your organization has purchased.
The Folio Administrator permission set is not seat-restricted in the same way.
Permission set combinations
Choose the combination that matches each user’s role:
- Folio Docs User: a fully set up end user of Folio Docs.
- Folio Docs User + Folio Administrator: a fully set up administrator of Folio Docs.
Assign permission sets
- In Setup, go to Users and open a user.
- Open Permission Set Assignments → Edit Assignments.
- Add the appropriate combination from above.
- Save.
